VIDEO: “ONE GIANT LEAP” – METE CEM ARABACI

One Giant Leap is a perspective of how human in the role of “architect” transformed the skin of the earth through evolutional process. Design consciousness was a milestone for the form of the materials. The architect who didn’t obey the rules of nature began to create its own built environment.

As some may notice the “monolith” idea of the book “2001: A Space Odyssey” by legendary author Arthur C. Clark influenced the fiction of the film by representing the milestone of evolution. Metaphorically, in ancient years, the architect started to design with the awareness after seeing the first footprint which belongs to Neil Armstrong from the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969. “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”

Architect’s Speech:
I have only got one desire.
Even if I get chilled to the marrow by night and even if you put savage enemies on my tail by day. I will reach my goal.
This is what I only know- to survive for the future existance of my species.
I smell. I feel. I touch.
The Nature told me where I should be.
I watched. I saw.
And I wondered.
I took some loam in my hand- I have not asked for permission.
I did not tell the nature where it should be-I made a dress for it.
With my hands and weary body of mine that never gets tired of wondering.
I worked hard for the better- for the best.
I discovered, invented, experienced, took lessons and criticized.
My desire is not only to survive anymore.
I have not only got one desire anymore.
