In “Dragos Promenad” project prepared for an invited competition, a twenty four hour living ‘Urban Meeting Space’, linear in structure, providing retail-shopping-culture-entertainment services, constitutes the interface between the project area and the texture of the immediate environment.
The concept of ‘integration’ in urban design is chosen to be the starting point. At the interface with the existing urban texture, mass formation in linear character expanding towards the sea along the north-south axes is adopted.
At high value points on the coastline, two towers which will act as landmarks are proposed. One of the towers will be used as a hotel and the other a residence tower. The hotel tower is designed to be transparent, while the residence tower is to be semi-transparent.
Variety and flexibility in the program (houses, residences, offices) are to be achieved with the selected axe system (8.00×8.00) and vertical circulation solutions in the same block, upon demand.
