Designed as the research and development center of Turkcell technology company, the building is located in the Gebze Tübitak Research Center Technology Free Zone. Turkcell is a private telecommunications company in Turkey. Having taken into consideration the site context, views and orientation, the design provides a single entrance rising to four storeys on the east facing office side. Not only a technological center in name, the building itself exhibits high technological standards. During the design process, special attention was paid to ensure the finished structure would be low on energy consumption. The building therefore exhibits not only style, but also meets high technological and environmental demands.
Based on its location, view, and orientation, the building is designed as a single storey structure on the entrance side and a four-storey structure on the office side. The land-facing façades of the offices that constitute the taller side of the building receive natural light from the large perture directed downward from the roof, hence allowing natural light to permeate all four sides in a controlled manner. Similar in form to a slice of cheese, the building blends into the terrain; the green roof serves as a recreational area for the employees. The building is designed as an information and technology production center that accommodates 500 employees around the clock. Therefore, it is equipped with rest, sleep and shower rooms, as well as recreational facilities such as a gym, an indoor climbing wall, pool tables, etc. The right wing of the building includes meeting and seminar rooms, whereas the left wing houses the gym and resting areas.
